Concordia City Commission Holds Three Executive Sessions Wednesday; No Action Taken on the Hire of a New City Manager

The Concordia City Commission moved their regular meeting up one week and met in three separate Executive Sessions Wednesday, October 11th before adjourning, with no action taken on the hire of a new City Manager.

Wednesday's meeting marked the second-time the Commission has met since conducting interviews with three finalists last week for their open City Manager position. Concordia's previous City Manager Larry Uri resigned August 23rd. Uri had been Concordia's City Manager since September 2008. Concordia City Clerk Stacey Smith is presently serving as the city's Interim City Manager, while City Finance Director Amber Farha is the city's Interim Assistant City Manager.

On October 2nd, the Commission interviewed Doug Reinert, the director of Parks & Recreation for the city of Fort Smith, Arkansas. On October 3rd, the Commission interviewed Amy Lange of Miltonvale, the Vice President for Administrative Services at Cloud County Community College, as well as Justin Ferrell of Concordia, who practices Estates, Real Estate transactions and Family Law at Brewer Law Firm and is the current City Attorney.

Last week, the Commission met in Executive Session for an hour discussing the finalists. On Wednesday, the Commission met for 30-minutes in Executive Session for the purpose of discussing non-elected personnel. The Commission then held a 10-minute Executive Session with Smith, before ending the meeting with another 15-minute Executive Session with no action taken.

It's anticipated the Commission won't meet again until their next regular meeting on Wednesday, November 1st.
