Construction work on USD 333 Concordia's High School Track Replacement Project at Harold M. Clark Stadium is entering its final stages, and Superintendent Quentin Breese said this week the facility should be accessible to the community by the end of the month.
As KNCK News was the first to report last fall, the USD 333 Concordia Board of Education voted to approve the bid from Hellas Construction, Inc. out of Austin, Texas for a new track and synethetic turf installation at Harold M. Clark Stadium at a total renovation cost of $1,299,900.
The original completion date was February 14, 2018, weather depending. The project, though, ran into weather delays in the winter, before being interrupted in the spring while Hellas Construction waited for hot mix asphalt for the track.
Lanes and markings were painted on the track last week. Breese told us they are just waiting to finish a few punch list items on the project.
The new track will be available for use by the public. A formal request must be made to the district to utilize the new synthetic turf football field.
