As Cloud County Community College gears up for the 2018-19 school year, the T-Birds would like to welcome the communities of North Cental Kansas to close out the summer with us at the Second Annual Rack 'Em & Back 'Em BBQ Bash.

The event, hosted on Saturday, August 11 at the Broadway Plaza in Concordia, is an athletic scholarship fundraiser for the institution and features a BBQ competition, free public movie showing, a corn hole tournament, pulled pork dinner and music provided by DJ Kyaunn Thompson.

Activities get underway at 3 p.m. with a screening of "Rookie of the Year." The splash pad and face painting will be available for kids while adults are invited to test out their yard game skills in the corn hole tournament.

The entry fee is $10 per 2-person team and each player must be 18 years old or older. Winners will earn 50% of all entry fees.

Starting at 6 p.m., a pulled pork dinner complete with a side of beans, chips and cookies will be available for purchase. Meal tickets are $10 per person or $15 for a pair.

A total of 50 People's Choice tickets will also be available for purchase at $15 per ticket or $25 for two, allowing the select event goers a chance to sample and vote on food prepared during the BBQ competition.

Unlimited drink wristbands are also on sale for $20 per wristband.

All ticket orders can be made the day of the event upon entry or online through Cloud County's athletic website, www.cloudtbirds.com, under the "Fan Zone" tab.

As of July 17, limited spaces are still available for teams interested in participating in the BBQ contest.

The competition categories include four freestyle meats -- chicken, ribs, pork (which will be provided) and beef -- as well as a sauce category, "Anything Butt" (dessert, beans, potatoes, etc.), and People's Choice.
The Grand Champion of the competition will take home a $500 cash prize, an event trophy and a Green Mountain Daniel Boone Grill. Second place winners will receive $250 cash and third place finishers, as well as category winners, will receive $50 in gift cards.

The entry fee is $50 per team, and $5 per entry in the sauce and Anything Butt categories. Interested parties are asked to contact Stephanie Downie via email at sdownie@cloud.edu.
