Shopko Announces Plans to Close the Shopko Hometown Store in Clay Center

Shopko has announced plans to close 39 stores across the country, including one in Clay Center. The retailer is closing the locations following a liquidation sale that begins on Friday, December 7th. The stores are expected to close at the end of February.

The Clay Center store is one of six Kansas locations on the closings list, along with the stores in Anthony, Larned, Lyons, Phillipsburg and Russell. Most of the locations are Shopko Hometown stores, a smaller concept store developed in smaller communities.

Founded in 1962 and headquartered in Green Bay, Wisconsin, Shopko Stores Operating Co., LLC operates 363 stores in 24 states throughout the Central, Western and Pacific Northwest regions. Retail formats include 131 Shopko stores; 5 Shopko Express Rx stores; 5 Shopko Pharmacy locations; and 222 Shopko Hometown stores.
