The Concordia High School Boys Basketball team suffered its fourth consecutive loss Tuesday, February 14th in a 65-42 road defeat at the hands of the Phillipsburg Panthers.
The Concordia Panthers struggled to take care of the basketball all night, coughing the ball up a season-high 26 times, creating opportunities that a young, quick and athletic Phillipsburg Panthers club was able to take advantage of.
It didn't take long for Phillipsburg to get going, as they recorded a 13-2 run in the first-quarter that quickly put them ahead by double-digits early in the contest. Phillipsburg also knocked in four first-half three-point shots to lead 39-22 at the halftime break.
Concordia would fall behind by 29 points on two separate occasions in the third quarter, as they were outscored by Phillipsburg 19-10 in the period.
After Phillipsburg jumped ahead by more than 30 points in the fourth quarter, a running clock was instituted and both teams emptied their benches.
Concordia was led in the losing effort by Junior Garrett Lawrence who finished with 13 points and 4 rebounds. Senior Matthew James finished with 7 points, while Sophomore Dyelan Reed recorded 5 points and a team-high 9 rebounds.
Now 5-13 on the season, Concordia will host Wamego on Friday, February 17th.
