Concordia Panther Baseball & Softball Teams Fall at 4A - Division II Regional Tournaments

The Concordia High School Baseball and Softball teams both ended their 2018 seasons Tuesday, May 15th in the semi-final round of their Kansas State High School Activities Association Class 4A - Division II Regional Tournaments.

The Panther Baseball team fell to the Clay Center Tigers, 8-5. The loss ends Concordia's year at 14-5 overall.

Clay Center led 4-0 midway through the fourth inning, but the Panthers rallied back scoring 2 runs in the bottom of the fourth and 2 more runs in the bottom of the fifth inning to tie the game up. The two teams would each post a run in the sixth inning, keeping the game deadlocked at 5-5 heading to the seventh inning. But in the top of the seventh inning, the Tigers would bring nine batters to the plate, scoring 3 runs while taking advantage of three Concordia errors. Concordia was retired in order in the bottom of the seventh.

The Panthers finished with 6 hits. Senior Billy Bechard led the way with 2 hits and 1 run scored. Seniors Brent Beaumont and Tyler Stupka, as well as Junior Tryston Jochems and Freshman Wyatt Trost each added a hit.

The Concordia High School Softball team fell to an undefeated Clay Center Tigers team in Chapman, 10-0 in five innings. Clay Center's Clara Edwards threw a one hitter while striking out seven Panther batters.

Concordia ends their year at 3-18.
