Concordia - Kansas SNAP-ED
Kansas Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program Education and the Cloud County Resource Center will present, "Delicious & Nutritious: a Menu in 4 Classes," beginning Tuesday.
Kansas Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program Education, or SNAP-Ed, is an evidence-based program that helps people lead healthier lives. SNAP-Ed teaches people using or eligible for SNAP about good nutrition and how to make their food dollars stretch further. SNAP-Ed participants also learn to be physically active.
SNAP-Ed works by building partnerships with all types of community organizations. Communities have social marketing campaigns, hold nutrition education classes, and improve their policies, systems, and the environment of the community. SNAP-Ed even addresses local issues like lead poisoning.
For the next four Tuesdays, beginning at 6 pm each night, Kansas SNAP-Ed and the Cloud County Resource will hold a cooking class at the Cloud County Event Center. Tonya Merill, Executive Director of the Cloud County Resource Center, says the program will help you discover the importance of nutrition, safety, planning and preparation through a series of hands-on cooking classes.
To register for the class, contact Merill at (785) 243-1065 or Angelo at (785) 632-5335.
