Concordia - Disaster Household Distribution at First United Methodist Church
A Disaster Household Distribution will be held at the First United Methodist Church in Concordia on Wednesday, June 3rd.
Under a Presidential Declaration of a National Emergency, the United States Department of Agriculture Food and Nutrition Service may approve state requests for Disaster Household Distributions for targeted areas to meet specific needs when traditional channels of food are unavailable and not being replenished on a regular basis. Disaster Household Distribution provides boxed foods to households using existing inventories of USDA-purchased foods.
USDA has approved targeted Disaster Household Distribution programs for Kansas. USDA intends to use all available program flexibilities and contingencies to serve their program participants. They want to reach the community that is in need most and may not qualify for other assistance, such as food stamps, the food bank, commodities, etc.
Line up will begin in the lower parking lot of the First United Methodist Church starting at 11:15 am. People are asked to remain in their vehicle with the windows rolled up. No one will be allowed to walk in or come into the building. You need to have a trunk or back seat available for them to load the items with as little contact as possible.
All volunteers will be wearing a mask and practice social distancing.
There will be a separate commodities distribution later in June. The date for the commodities distribution has yet to be determined.
