Concordia Knights of Columbus Council Crowns 2020 Free Throw Champions
Seven girls and boys from Concordia, ages 9 to 14, were named local champions of the 2020 Knights of Columbus Free Throw Championship and have earned the right to compete at the district level.
The Concordia Knights of Columbus Council #1142 sponsored the local competition at Cloud County Community College’s Arley Bryant Gymnasium. All youngsters ages 9 to 14 were eligible to participate.
Nine-year-old champion in the boy’s bracket was Gehrig Bechard. Ayden Krier won the 10-year old boys division. Charlize Cash was the 11-year-old girls champion and Kale Schroeder was the winner of the 11-year-old boys’ division. In the 12-year boys division, Baylor Knox took top honors. KcAnna Keiswetter was the champion in the 13-year old girls division. Winning the 14-year old boys division was Payton Breese.
Each contestant was allowed 15 free throw attempts in the contest.
Each of these winners will compete in the district competition to be held on February 2nd in Clifton-Clyde High School’s Bill Bechard Gymnasium at 1 pm in Clyde, Kansas with an eye towards moving on to the state and international levels.
