Lorene attended Concordia schools, graduating in 1933. She was employed by The Concordia Ice and Cold Storage as stenographer and bookkeeper for five years. In 1939, she was married to Austin Huscher. They lived in Concordia until Austin was called to serve in the Army in WWII. They then lived in Arkansas, Kentucky, and Pennsylvania until he was sent overseas to serve in the Third Army. When he returned, the moved back into their home and continued their life.

In 1949, a son, Phillip, was born to them. Lorene loved being a wife and mother. She was a homemaker, but served many hours doing volunteer work. She was on the board of Community Concerts and served as its renewal membership chairman for many years; she was still attending every concert until quite recently. She was on the board of directors of the Fidelity State Bank. She was always happy to be a den mother for Phillip's Cub Scout troupe and was active in P.T.A. and loved attending all his activities while he was in school. She was a member of First Presbyterian Church, Presbyterian women, a study club, and numerous bridge clubs. She and Austin enjoyed traveling, but spent time each summer in Estes Park, Colorado, and winter months in Arizona after Austin's retirement. Austin died in February of 2002.

Lorene loved beautiful things, clothes, furniture, homes, and music. Most of all she loved her God, family, and friends. She was so appreciative of her many younger friends, who always saw that she had transportation to events and never forgot to call to offer help if needed.

She is survived by Phillip and his wife Fran; and two brothers, Leland Perry and Dwight Perry.

Lorene was preceded in death by her husband Austin, and parents.
