Brandt Hutchinson Picks Up 200th Career Win; Panther Baseball Sweeps Wamego at Home
The Concordia High School Baseball team opened North Central Kansas League play on Tuesday, April 9th by sweeping a home doubleheader against the Wamego Red Raiders by the final scores of 10-0 and 6-5, respectively.
The final victory marked the 200th career win for Panther Baseball Coach Brandt Hutchinson.
In game one, Concordia Sophomore Chase Parker threw five scoreless innings, allowing one hit and no walks while striking out eight batters, to secure the win.
Panther Junior Jacob Williams was 3-4 at the plate with 2 runs scored and 1 RBI. Sophomores Hunter Schroeder and Gavin Thomas combined for 4 hits and 5 RBIs, while Sophomore Wyatt Trost scored 3 runs in the contest.
Concordia trailed 5-2 heading to the 7th inning in game two, but managed to rally back to win 6-5.
Williams captured the win on the mound, pitching 2 1/3 innings out of the bullpen, allowing no runs or hits while striking out two.
Thomas was 3-4 at the plate with 1 run scored and 1 RBI. Schroeder finished 2-4 with 1 RBI, while Trost and Sophomores Chas Carlgren and Nick Vignery each registered a hit.
The Panthers now sit at 6-2 on the season and 2-0 in NCKL play. They will host the Chapman Irish on Tuesday, April 16th.
