Concordia Panthers Open 3A Regional Baseball Tournament with a Win; Play TMP-Marian on Wednesday
The Concordia High School Baseball team opened their 2019 Class 3A Regional Baseball Tournament at home on Monday, May 13th, snagging a 6-1 win over the Larned Indians. The Panthers now advance to the semifinals and a match-up with the Thomas More Prep-Marian Monarchs on Wednesday, May 15th.
Tied at 1-1, Concordia broke the game open in the bottom of the 5th inning when Senior Shortstop Dyelan Reed tripled to left, driving in Junior Jacob Williams and Sophomores Wyatt Trost and Chas Carlgren. Reed finished the game 2-2 at the plate with 3 RBIs and one run scored.
After Sophomore Hunter Schroeder drew a two-out walk to put runners on the corners, Sophomore Designated Hitter Gavin Thomas doubled to right field, scoring both Reed and Schroeder.
Sophomore Chase Parker recorded the win on the mound. Parker, now 6-2 on the season, limited Larned to two hits while striking out nine batters.
Concordia now sits at 14-5 on the season. The Panthers will host the 14-3 Monarchs at 3:30 pm Wednesday at Lee Doyen Field at the Concordia Sports Complex. Thomas More Prep-Marian took down Beloit, 13-3 in five innings, on Monday.
