Tryston Jochems & Dyelan Reed Named Outstanding Seniors; Eight Panther Baseball Players Receive All-League Recognition
Concordia High School Seniors Tryston Jochems and Dyelan Reed have been named the Most Oustanding Senior Baseball Players, while eight members of the Concordia High School Baseball team have received All-North Central Kansas League recognition.
Jochems was named a First-Team All-NCKL pitcher for the 2019 season. Tryston concluded his senior season with a 5-0 overall record and a 2.92 earned run average. He allowed just 15 earned runs off 18 hits in 36 innings pitched while recording a team-high 62 strikeouts.
Panther Sophomore Gavin Thomas and Junior Jacob Williams were named First-Team All-NCKL Infield, while Reed received Honorable Mention All-NCKL Infield recognition.
Thomas batted .483 on the year with 28 hits, including eight doubles, 17 runs scored, and a team-leading 27 RBIs.
Williams hit .316 on the season with 24 hits, 30 runs scored, and 18 RBIs. Jacob led Concordia with 18 stolen bases on the year.
Reed batted in just eight games this spring after battling a pre-season shoulder injury. Dyelan hit .375 on the year with 9 hits, including two triples, 11 runs scored, and 21 RBIs. Dyelan had the third best slugging percentage on the team at .625.
Sophomore Chas Carlgren was named to the First-Team All-NCKL outfield. Carlgren led Concordia with a .517 batting average after registering a team-high 30 hits, including eight doubles and one home run, 30 runs scored, and 25 RBIs. Carlgren had the best slugging percentage on the club at .707.
Sophomore Hunter Schroeder was selected as a First-Team All-NCKL catcher. Hunter hit .397 on the year with 25 hits, including three triples, 23 runs scored, and 21 RBIs. Schroeder also recorded 15 stolen bases.
Sophomore Chase Parker was named a First-Team All-NCKL utility player, while Sophomore Wyatt Trost received Honorable Mention All-NCKL utility player recognition.
At the plate, Parker hit .340 on the year with 16 hits, including one home run, and 15 RBIs. As a starting pitcher, Chase finished the season 6-2 overall with a 1.79 earned run average. He allowed 10 earned runs off 24 hits in 39 innings pitched while striking out 61 batters on the year.
Trost batted .279 this spring with 17 hits and 29 runs scored. Wyatt finished the year with a .575 on-base percentage. Trost struck out just six times in 61 at bats.
The Concordia High School Baseball team saw their 2019 season come to an end on Wednesday, May 15th, falling in their Class 3A Regional Championship Game to the Minneapolis Lions, 7-5.
The Panthers concluded the year at 15-6 overall, winning their second consecutive NCKL title.
