USD 333 Concordia to Light Up Harold M. Clark Stadium Each Friday Night to Honor the Class of 2020
Starting this Friday, April 17th and continuing every Friday night through May 22nd, the lights at Harold M. Clark Stadium at Concordia High School will shine in honor and support for the class of 2020, the spring sport athletes, coaches and all the families currently affected by the COVID-19 pandemic.
At exactly 8:20 pm, the lights will be turned on at the stadium and remain on for 20 minutes.
The “Be the Light” Campaign is a nationwide initiative to honor classes of 2020. The lights are a symbol of hope and a reminder from districts and schools that their students are still at top of mind, even when they aren’t in the building.
"Be the Light" encourages schools to light up their stadiums at 8:20 pm (20:20 in military time), with community members encouraged to turn on their front porch lights to join the tribute.
Community members are also encouraged to drive by the stadium during this time, but USD 333 Concordia Superintendent Quentin Breese says all social distancing rules still apply.
A teacher caravan will also be held on Friday, April 17th, allowing teachers to travel through several of their students’ neighborhoods to show them their teachers are still here, despite school buildings being closed for the remainder of the school year.
