The Cloud County Commission voted Monday, February 14th to appoint Bryan Cleveland of Cloud County to a position on the 12th Judicial District Nominating Commission.

Cleveland replaces Brad Lowell, whose term expires next month.  Cleveland's term will run from March 7, 2022 to March 2, 2026.

The purpose of the district judicial nominating commission is to nominate persons for appointment to the office of judge of the district court in a judicial district.  In each judicial district, a district judicial nominating commission shall consist of an equal number of lawyers and non-lawyers.  The lawyer members of each nominating commission are elected and the non-lawyer members are appointed.  The chairperson of the commission is a justice of the supreme court or a district judge who is not a judge in the judicial district.

The 12th Judicial District is composed of Cloud, Jewell, Lincoln, Mitchell, Republic and Washington Counties.
