City of Concordia Proclaims April as Donate Life Month

The Concordia City Commission has proclaimed April as Donate Life Month in the City of Concordia to honor all those who have made the decision to donate life, to focus attention on the critical need for donation and to encourage all Kansas residents to register as organ, eye, and tissue donors.

Organ donation is a selfless gift that saved more than 40,000 lives across our country in 2021.  The Midwest Transplant Network, our local organ procurement organization, serves all of Kansas and the western two-thirds of Missouri, where nearly 2,500 people await lifesaving transplants.  The number of people on the organ transplant waiting list continues to far exceed the number of registered donors.  95% percent of our country’s population supports organ donation but only 58% are registered as donors.

Cloud County Health Center encourages individuals to become aware of the need for organ donation and to register as an organ, eye, and tissue donor.

Pam Campbell, Executive Assistant with the Cloud County Health Center, says this is the perfect time check that box when you renew your driver license, and to talk about your wishes with your family.

This week, Cloud County Health Center held a Donate Life flag-raising ceremony at the hospital.  The Donate Life flag has become a national symbol of unity, remembrance and hope, while honoring those touched by donation and transplantation.
