Cloud County Commissioner Mark Matthew will resign from the board of commissioners effective May 30th, he announced this week.

Matthew and his wife Patricia Macfarlane have also announced plans to resign from the Cloud County Community College Board of Trustees, effective June 2nd.

Matthew, who announced his decision during the Cloud County Commission meeting on Monday, May 15th, said the decision to step down is due to family and health concerns.

Matthew was elected as a write-in candidate to the Cloud County Community College Board of Trustees in the fall of 2021.  A year later, he was elected to the First District position on the Cloud County Commission, defeating two-term Incumbent Bill Czapanskiy in the August 2022 Primary Election.

Macfarlane is currently serving her second term on the College Board of Trustees.  She was first elected in 2017, and re-elected to her seat in 2021.
