The band concert will be on Monday, May 6th and will feature the Rolling Thunder Pep Band, North Central Kansas Community Concert Band, and the Cloud Kicks Jazz Band.

The Pep Band’s songs will include “Louie, Louie,” “Beat It,” and “Turn the Beat Around.”

The Concert Band, which is a non-auditioned community ensemble that performs primarily traditional wind and concert band selections, will perform selections including “March for Wind Band,” “Theme from Swan Lake,” and “Fanfare for a New Era.”

The Jazz Band is an auditioned ensemble open to both college and community members that performs a Blues, Jazz, Big Band, Latin, and Rock repertoire.  The band will perform several numbers, including “Avenue Swing,” “Jericho,” and “The Jazz Police.”

The Community Band is under the direction of Renata Knox, and the Jazz Band is directed by Christopher Langsford, instructor in music at Cloud County.

On Wednesday, May 8th, the choir groups will present their second annual Cabaret Concert.  The theme for this year’s concert is Broadway.  The concert will feature the Community Chorale/Concert Choir, the Cloud 9 Jazz Choir, and solos and duets performed by students and community members.

The Community Chorale/Concert Choir is a non-auditioned, community vocal ensemble that is open to singers from the college and the community.  Some of the songs they will perform include “Oklahoma Medley” from Oklahoma, “Consider Yourself” from Oliver, and “Somewhere” from West Side Story.

The Cloud 9 Jazz Choir is an elite, auditioned group consisting of only nine singers.  They perform standard blues, jazz, and other popular music selections.  The Jazz Choir will perform several selections, including “Dear Theodosia” from Hamilton, “Sun and Moon” from Miss Saigon, and “Ease on Down the Road” from The Wiz.

The choirs are under the direction of Christopher Langsford, instructor in music at Cloud County.  He can be reached at chris.langsford@cloud.edu with any questions.
