Cloud County Sees Third Straight Monthly Decline in Sales Tax Collections

Sales tax revenue in Cloud County continues to lag behind the prior year as the County Treasurer's Office this week reported the third straight month of year-over-year drops in collections.

The April 2024 sales tax report shows collections are down 2.9 percent compared to April 2023, and down 1.9 percent year to date.

Sales tax collections have decreased year-over-year in six of the last eight months, according to a report provided to KNCK News.

According to the Cloud County Treasurer's Office, the county received $77,672.60 in its monthly sales tax payment from the state of Kansas in April, its lowest monthly collection in 18 months.

Figures released by the Cloud County Treasurer's Office show Cloud County's 2024 revenue portion equals $342,802.71; this time last year Cloud County received $349,509.15.
