The Con-Kids Wrestling Club is preparing to host its first home tournament in two years after last year's tournament in Concordia was canceled because of COVID-19.

Jeremy Will, President of the Con-Kids Wrestling Club Board of Directors, said the goal of the youth wrestling organization is to give kids in the community exposure to the sport.

Last winter, as the COVID-19 pandemic continued to impact all walks of life, the Con-Kids Wrestling Club faced a season filled with new procedures, fluctuating schedules and safety concerns.  The program altered their regular routines, including canceling their yearly home tournament.

While it was a smart move for public safety to cancel last year's tournament, Will said the cancellation also resulted in a huge financial loss for the organization.

The Con-Kids Open and Girls Tournament will be held Saturday, January 8, 2022 at Concordia Junior/Senior High School.

This year, the Con-Kids Wrestling Club is selling raffle tickets to family, friends and the community for a locally-raised quarter beef, with four winners to be announced at this weekend's tournament.
