Concordia Author Releases New Children's Book; Story Time and Book Signing Event to be Held at Cloud County Tourism This Weekend

Concordia author Lindsay Metcalf officially released her fifth children's book this week.

Metcalf's new book, "Outdoor Farm, Indoor Farm," named a Junior Library Guild Gold Standard Selection, is an informational fiction picture book that compares and contrasts traditional outdoor farms with indoor farms.

In the book, discover how both outdoor and indoor farms sustainably grow the food we eat throughout the year in this vibrant, rhyming picture book.  With energetic, enchanting verse and sunshiny, colorful illustrations, discover how the food you eat is grown both outside—and inside.  You'll see how a variety of amazing machinery like tractors and drones along with innovative farming techniques yield the wonderful food we all love to enjoy.

Copies of "Outdoor Farm, Indoor Farm" are available at Cloud County Tourism and the Frank Carlson Library in Concordia.

The public is invited to a story time and book signing with Metcalf at 10 am on Saturday, April 13th at Cloud County Tourism, located at 130 East Sixth Street in Concordia.  Signed books will be available for purchase.  Refreshments and an activity for children will be provided.

Metcalf writes books for the young and curious.  Her prior books include Beatrix Potter, Scientist; Farmers Unite! Planting a Protest for Fair Prices; No Voice Too Small: Fourteen Young Americans Making History; and No World Too Big: Young People Fighting Global Climate Change.

Metcalf told KNCK News she loves to interact with young readers, and hopefully encourage them on their own creative journey.

A former journalist, Metcalf has reported and edited for publications including The Kansas City Star.  She graduated from Concordia High School in 2000 and from the University of Kansas in 2004 with bachelor’s degrees in journalism and Spanish.  Metcalf lives in Concordia, Kansas, with her husband, Will, and two sons, Quinn and Bennett.  She volunteers as a member of the USD 333 Concordia Board of Education and as a Frank Carlson Library Trustee.
