Eight students at Concordia Elementary School and Concordia Middle School have been selected to the Kansas Music Educators Association (KMEA) All-State Elementary Honor Choir.

This choir is composed of students from grades 3-5 from across the state of Kansas who submit an audition recording in October.  This year there were nearly 1,000 auditions, more than they have ever had before, and only 160 students are chosen to participate.

Students from Concordia named to the choir are 5th grade students Alyssa Brown, Cora Garlow and Molly Kollath, 4th grade students Nash Brooks, Madilyn Cyphers, Alex Fowler and Kahlan Metcalfe, and 3rd grade student Clark Genereux.

Mrs. Ann Metcalfe and Mrs. Renata Knox, Concordia Elementary and Middle School Music Teachers, will accompany the students to Wichita, where they will perform at the Century II Convention Center on Thursday, February 22nd at 5 pm.  There, the students will work with clinician and composer Herbert Washington, a champion and an advocate for diverse styles of music who has collaborated with leaders in the music industry, including Grammy Award-winning Tori Kelly, Jordin Sparks, Bret Michaels, and Jason Derulo.
