A series of free workshops focused on nonprofit board development and retention is being offered again for participants from North Central Kansas starting this month.

The sessions are intended to provide training for anyone who serves on a board or is part of a nonprofit organization.  The North Central Regional Planning Commission (NCRPC), based in Beloit, Kansas, is hosting the training.  It is available and free for residents, businesses and nonprofits located in the NCRPC 12-county service area — including the counties of Clay, Cloud, Dickinson, Ellsworth, Jewell, Lincoln, Marshall, Mitchell, Ottawa, Republic, Saline and Washington.  Kansas Nonprofit Chamber CEO Cindy Miles, based in Wichita, Kansas, will instruct the sessions online via Zoom.  The series was previously available last fall and winter.

“So often I hear from organizations that they need the training but do not have the funds to pay for it,” Miles said.  “We are pleased to be able to offer this series one last time at no cost for individuals and nonprofits in North Central Kansas.”

Example courses include the following: Developing a Business Plan for Your Business or Nonprofit, Basic Responsibilities of Nonprofit Board Members and Officers, Creating Strong Board Chair-CEO Partnerships, Creating Effective and Functioning Committees for your Nonprofit Organization, Engaging the Nonprofit Board in Fundraising, and Developing an Effective Fundraising Plan.

Training is free, but advance registration is required.  To learn more, register for a session, or see the full calendar of courses available through June 2022, visit www.ncrpc.org/resources/trainings.

The training is made possible, in part, through the U.S. Department of Commerce Economic Development Administration’s CARES Act Recovery Assistance grant awarded to the NCRPC.

The NCRPC is committed to advancing rural Kansas through comprehensive planning and development services.  Its primary service area includes 12 counties and 83 cities in North Central Kansas.  For more information about the NCRPC, visit www.ncrpc.org.
