Frieda Knitter will be retiring from the K-State Research and Extension – River Valley District, with her last day in the Clay Center office set for April 30th.

To celebrate with her and to say good luck, the River Valley Extension District will be holding a public, come-and-go reception for Frieda on April 27th from 2 pm to 4:30 pm at the Clay County Fairgrounds Conference Room.

Following high school, Frieda attended Brown Mackie where she completed her secretarial training.  Upon graduation, she was hired as the secretary for the Clay County Extension Office in 1971.  With the formation of the River Valley District in 2005, Frieda continued as the financial office professional for the district where she has had an impeccable record of accuracy with the district financials.

Over her 51-years on the job, she has helped improve the lives of countless community members and her knowledge of local history and families has been invaluable to extension and all who have worked with her.  Frieda has always been a strong 4-H supporter and has touched many 4-H families’ lives.  She went above and beyond for 4-H by volunteering in addition to her normal job duties.  She served as the junior leader sponsor for a number of years.

Frieda's passion for helping people, her strong work ethic, and the positive attitude she has brought to work each day have made her such an asset and a beloved icon of K-State Research and Extension.  She will leave behind a 51-year legacy.
