The City of Concordia has announced Highland Drive will be closed to traffic from West 11th Street to West 13th Street on Thursday, May 9th from 8 am to 5 pm to allow Vogts Parga Construction, LLC to make connections to the existing public utilities for the St. Joseph Subdvision.

Drivers are encouraged to use Willow Street and 13th Street as a detour.

The city is developing the St. Joseph Subdivision, formerly home to the Cloud County Health Center in Concordia, to address a demonstrated housing shortage in the community.  Campbell and Johnson Engineers completed design work for the public infrastructure to serve the St. Joseph Subdivision late-last year, while the Concordia City Commission awarded the infrastructure construction bids to Vogts-Parga Construction, LLC of Newton, Kansas in the amount of $1,749,991.90 in December 2023.

Public utilities are typically located in the street or alley rights-of-way and occasionally involve temporary disruption to normal traffic flow.  The City of Concordia and Vogts Parga Construction, LLC thank the public for their patience and cooperation as utility service is provided to Concordia's newest residential subdivision.
