Levi Cool, son of Kirk and Amy Cool, has been selected as Glasco High School's 2022-2023 Good Citizen.

The award is given by the Nathan Edson Chapter of the National Society of the Daughters of the American Revolution.  This national program was started in 1934 and is now in its 89th year.  Students are chosen for their qualities of dependability, service, leadership and patriotism in their homes, schools and communities.

Once the student has been chosen as the Good Citizen for their school, they are also given the opportunity to write an essay for the scholarship portion of the program if they choose.  This is a timed essay that must be proctored.  The student is given a sealed envelope with a focus question inside.  This is opened once the timing starts.  They have two hours to complete the essay and can only use a dictionary while writing.  Once the essays are finished and sent back to the Nathan Edson Chapter, the chapter then sends them on to independent judges outside the chapter.

Levi has been involved in Football, Cross Country, Basketball, Track, Golf, Scholars Bowl, Student Council and FFA.  He is a 4-H member and is on the 4-H Council.  He is also involved in his local youth group.

He has helped pick up trash in his community of Glasco; serves meals on Sundays for older people in the community; and helps a local woman at her business with lifting and transferring items up and down the stairs.  He also volunteers at the local VFW to help serve meals.

Levi also works for a local farmer and works on his parents' farm.  He plans to attend college and major in Ag Business.

He will be presented with a certificate, pin and monetary award from the Nathan Edson Chapter.
