After close to three decades coaching and mentoring Concordia youth, Scott Coppoc will step away at the end of the 2022-2023 school year.

Coppoc and his wife DeeDee will be relocating to the Wichita, Kansas area this summer after Scott accepted an opportunity to work as an area representative with Fellowship of Christian Athletes, an interdenominational Christian sports ministry which has been challenging coaches and athletes on the professional, college, high school, junior high and youth levels to use the powerful platform of sport to reach every coach and every athlete with the transforming power of Jesus Christ.

Coppoc told KNCK News he's excited to join the team that Kansas FCA already has in place and those that will come on board with them in the future, but he will miss getting to know all of the students and coaches in Concordia.

Coppoc said he's long been interested in the work of FCA, which engages coaches and athletes through genuine relationships through their shared lives and the Gospel.  He said he will work through the agency's strategy of engaging, equipping and empowering coaches and athletes to know and grow in Christ and lead others to do the same.

For the past 29 years, Coppoc has been an assistant coach for the Concordia High School Football team where helped the Panthers win a Kansas State High School Activities Association Class 4A State Football title in 1999.

Coppoc spent the 1994 season as a part of Larry Diepenbrock's staff.

When Coach Ron Culwell arrived in Concordia in 1995, he kept Coppoc on staff.  The Panthers made it to the state title game in 1999, where they beat then-undefeated Holton 42-21 to capture the program's first state championship.

Coppoc later worked for coaches Troy Marseline, Tim Lambert, Austin Kingsbury, and current Panthers Coach Jordan Echer.  With Coach Echer, the team has reached the state football playoffs in four straight seasons, including advancing to the Class 3A state football playoff quarterfinals in 2021.
