A vehicle was destroyed by fire following an accident in Washington County this month.

According to a report from the Washington County Sheriff's Office, Brandon G. Thornburg of Hanover was driving a Green 1997 Chevy Blazer on 29th Road at Yankee Road when he lost control of the vehicle and struck an embankment.  Thornburg attempted to get the vehicle to move, but the friction of the tires on the snow started a fire, which completely engulfed the vehicle.

Due to a full tank of fuel, the vehicle exploded, according to the sheriff's department.

Hanover and Hollenberg Fire Departments were dispatched but were unable to get to the scene due to the hazardous road conditions.

No injuries were reported.  The Chevy Blazer was completely destroyed.
