The North Central Kansas Down Syndrome Society will host its 19th Annual Buddy Walk on Sunday, October 2nd at Clifton-Clyde High School.  Activities will start at 1 pm, and the walk will begin at 3 pm.

Shella Thoman with the North Central Kansas Down Syndrome Society says they sponsor a Buddy Walk to promote the acceptance of all people with Down Syndrome.  The Buddy Walk has grown every year from 30 participants to over 800 participants.

Thoman tells KNCK News many volunteers are needed to make this event a success.

October is Down Syndrome Awareness month; its purpose is to raise public awareness of this common disorder and advocate for acceptance and inclusion of people with Down syndrome.

Thoman says the North Central Kansas Down Syndrome Society is a nonprofit organization whose mission is to provide support and resources to individuals with Down Syndrome and their families.
