Opening of New North Central Kansas Medical Center Pushed Back to November 7th
The opening date for the North Central Kansas Medical Center has been pushed back two weeks due to complications from workforce shortages.
“As we all know, one of the biggest challenges facing every industry nationwide is workforce shortages,” said Administrator Dave Garnas. “Whether it is healthcare, fast food, government agencies, or construction, the workforce issues plaguing the nation are real and challenging for all of us. With that being said, we have made the decision to delay the opening of North Central Kansas Medical Center by two weeks.”
The hospital will host its ribbon cutting and community open house on Friday, October 28th and the first day of operation will be Monday, November 7th.
“I want to commend McCown Gordon and all of the sub-contractors,” said Garnas. “Through this project we have battled shortages in not only workforce, but shortages in paint, Portland cement, electrical components, roofing material, steel and much more. Although nobody wanted this delay, the fact that we have come within two weeks of the original schedule, in the midst of a global pandemic, is truly a miracle.”
