The National Orphan Train Complex in Concordia is very excited to host its first virtual webinar on Thursday, March 23rd at 7 pm.

The guest speaker will be DNA Researcher Greg Markway, who visited Concordia last June to speak at the 2022 Annual Celebration of Orphan Train Riders.

Markway is a clinical psychologist from Jefferson City, Missouri.  His grandfather rode the orphan train from the New York Foundling to Central Missouri in 1901.  Greg is the co-founder of the Orphan Train DNA group on Facebook where he helps other descendants look for their ancestors.  He also has a blog where he writes about orphan train history and provides tips on searching.

Greg used his own DNA test results to identify his grandfather's parents, who were unknown to his family.  In the process, he also discovered cousins living across the country, and some in his own home town.

In this workshop, Greg will share his experience with DNA research, outlining his process and providing helpful tips for anyone hoping to find their ancestors through DNA.

The webinar will be hosted via Zoom and is free and open to all.  The Zoom link will be posted on the National Orphan Train Complex website at (www.orphantraindepot.org/events/), and will be shared on their Facebook page.

If you have ever considered having your DNA tested for genealogical purposes, this workshop is for you.
