The National Weather Service in Topeka has issued a Red Flag Warning, which is in effect from noon to 9 pm Friday, March 31st for Clay, Cloud, Ottawa, Republic and Washington Counties in North Central Kansas.

West to southwest winds sustained at 25 to 35 mph with gusts up to 55 mph are expected Friday, while lowest humidity values will range from 15 to 30 percent.

Any fires that develop will spread rapidly.  Outdoor burning should not occur.  A Burn Ban is currently in effect for Cloud County until Monday, April 3rd.

A Red Flag Warning means that critical fire weather conditions are either occurring now, or will shortly.  A combination of strong winds, low relative humidity, and warm temperatures can contribute to extreme fire behavior.
