United States Representative Tracey Mann of Kansas hosted a town hall meeting at the Concordia American Legion on Wednesday, February 21st, part of his annual 60-county Mann Listening Tour.

Four students from the Concordia Junior/Senior High School FFA Chapter attended the town hall.  This week is National FFA Week, a time to share what FFA is and the impact it has on members every day.

Representative Mann helped establish the FFA Caucus, an informal, bipartisan group of U.S. Representatives dedicated to issues related to the next generation of agriculture leaders and students pursuing careers in agriculture, food, natural resources, and related sciences.  Representative Mann said their goal is to raise the profile of school-based agriculture education and the FFA Caucus, and develop relationships between Congress and school-based agricultural education, FFA and the next generation of leaders in food agriculture.

As a member of the House Agriculture Committee, Representative Mann said his attention is on the importance of reauthorizing a five-year Farm Bill.  He believes the Farm Bill must strengthen and maintain crop insurance, promote trade programs that help America remain competitive and secure, conduct rigorous oversight of the executive branch to fight big government overreach, and invest in agricultural research at America’s land-grant universities.

As Representatives Mann travels the district listening to constituents, one of the topics he hears the most is about the need for the country to secure the border.  Mann told his audience in Concordia that President Joe Biden should be working with Congress to secure the southern border.
