Taking a walk is one of the simplest, safest and most effective forms of exercise.  In fact, walking at a pace of 3 miles per hour can substantially reduce the risk of developing heart disease, stroke and diabetes.

National Walk at Lunch Day provides the perfect opportunity to get up from your desk and get on your feet for a 30-minute walk.  On Wednesday, April 24th, that's exactly what Blue Cross and Blue Shield Companies and tens of thousands of Americans across the country will do.

Chris Atkins, Parks & Recreation Director for the City of Concordia, says they will take part in the day, which is designed to encourage busy people like to take a walk during their lunch break and start a healthy routine.
