Weekend House Fire Claims Life in Washington County

A man is dead following a weekend house fire in Washington County.

The blaze broke out at a residence at 112 West 1st Street in Washington on Sunday, March 6th.

According to a news release from the Washington County Sheriff’s Office, a resident of the home, Gary Romine, was found deceased within the house with fire-related contributors as the presumed cause of death.

The Kansas Fire Marshall’s Office was contacted to assist with the investigation.  The official investigation is still ongoing.

No foul play is suspected based on preliminary evidence available, the Washington County Sheriff’s Office said.

The Washington County Sheriff’s Office, Washington Fire Department, Hanover Fire Department, Greenleaf Fire Department and Washington EMS were all dispatched for the house fire.
