Zion Lutheran Church in Concordia Installs New Pastor
Zion Lutheran Church, located at 117 W. 8th Street in the historic former Epiphany Episcopal Church building, will install its first Pastor on Saturday, August 8, 2026 at 3 PM.
Zion Lutheran Church started out as a Bible Study in Concordia in 2017. At the time, as a new church plant, Zion Lutheran shared pastors with surrounding Missouri Synod churches to hold regular services. After officially becoming a chartered member of the Missouri Synod Lutheran Church earlier this year, Zion Lutheran Church is now in the process of purchasing the former Epiphany Episcopal Church building, and is proud to welcome Pastor Joshua Cody as its first dedicated Pastor. The installation service on Saturday will be followed by a meal in the Fellowship Hall to welcome to the Cody family.
Pastor Joshua Cody is husband of one wife (Sarah Elizabeth) and father to seven beautiful children: Thaddaeus, Tirzah, Theodore, Titus, Thessaly, Tilde and Tabitha. Pastor Josh and Sarah were married in December 2004. He graduated from Adams State University in 2005 with a Bachelor of Arts in Graphic Design. After 5 years in the professional field, Pastor Josh and Sarah decided to move to Wisconsin in order fulfill their collective vision of Joshua becoming an educator and church worker. Pastor Josh graduated from Concordia University Wisconsin with a Master of Science in Art Education and started a career as a K-12 Art Teacher in Wagner, SD. This career culminated with Pastor Josh becoming a full-time faculty member at Concordia University Wisconsin. However, in 2015, the Cody’s relocated to Colorado in order to help their family farm and businesses. But the Lord had a plan! Pastor Josh was ordained in the Office of Public Ministry on January 17, 2026, after three years of Seminary preparation through Concordia Theological Seminary in Fort Wayne, IN.
Rev. Joshua Cody now holds an PhD in Organizational Leadership and Biblical Studies. He is in his final year of seminary. Throughout his graduate education, Pastor Josh has studied Old and New Testament Theology, Biblical Doctrines, Ancient Semitic Languages, New Testament Greek, Origins and Translations of the Bible, and more. Pastor Josh has studied many languages and has spoken at international events in Germany, Poland and Finland and has worked professionally throughout Northern and Western Europe. He has also had the opportunity to speak at synodical conferences at Concordia Ann Arbor and Concordia Wisconsin. Joshua is a new, full-time faculty member at Cloud County Community College in Visual Art.
The Cody Family is looking forward to this amazing opportunity to live in Concordia and serve the Lord at Zion Lutheran.
