Catherine Ann Tebow Ekerberg, 81, of Blue Ridge, VA, former longtime Courtland, KS resident, the daughter of John Everett Hanson and Eleanor (Long) Hanson, was born May 14, 1942 in Courtland, Kansas and passed away on October 29, 2023 in rural Courtland, Kansas.

She attended grade school in Kackley, Kansas, graduating from Courtland High School.      Following school, she worked as a caregiver and assistant at the Bethphage Mission in Axtell, NE.    

On September 25, 1960, she was united in marriage to Howard Tebow and to this union two sons, Lonnie and Craig were born.     Catherine worked at St. Joseph’s Hospital, Concordia, KS in the lab and record department.      From 1963 until 2000, she was the secretary and business manager of Tebow Plumbing Company, Courtland, KS.     Howard preceded her in death on January 6, 2002.  She was later united in marriage on July 13, 2012 to James Ekerberg and he preceded her death on December 10, 2014.

Catherine was a member of the Red Hat Ladies, and Ada Lutheran Church where she was involved in WELCA and LCW.  She was an active member of her community and Church, serving on many committees.     Catherine was a “neighborhood Grandma”, babysitting and caring for the local neighborhood children.

She was preceded in death by her spouses,  Howard Tebow and James Ekerberg; parents, Everett and Eleanor (Long) Hanson; her mother & father-in-law, Earl and Ruth (Linden) Tebow;  sister, Mary (Hanson) Larson; brother, John Hanson;  sisters-in-law, Diane (Perry)  Hanson, Emily (Tebow) Carlgren; brothers-in-law, John Hosford, Warren Tebow, and Richard Larson;  nieces, Kyla Lauritzen and Patricia Nelson;  and nephew, Doug Hosford.

Catherine in survived by two sons,  Lonnie (Donna) Tebow of Blue Ridge, VA and Craig (Lisa) Tebow of Courtland, KS;  grandchildren, Katherine (Annika Collins, Thomas (Jessica) Tebow, Ruaidhri (Shane) Cotterman, Melinda (Matt) Young, Charlie (Austin) Polley, Tyler (Bailey) Tebow;  great grandchildren,  Maci, Mylee & Maverick Young, Alexander & Saorise Cotterman, Henry Collins, and Everett & Bayler Tebow;  sister, Beverly Hosford, Fairfield, CA & Jeanette (Dennis) Norton of Olathe, KS; brothers & sisters-in-law, Robert Carlgren,  Lorna (Dennis) Lauritzen Larry (Linda) Tebow,  Arlene (Duaine) Sherwood; Dorothy Tebow; nephews and nieces,  James (Laura) Tebow, Cathy (Gary) Yeager, Doug (Rhonda) Sherwood, Lisa (Kris) Coyan, Nicole (Nick) Jeffers, Joe (Jen Ipsen) Tebow, Jessica (Michael Ohlde) Tebow, Tony (Liz) Tebow,  Troy (Allison) Carlgren, Tarra (Eric) Freberg, Terelle (Tim) Mock,   Thad (Leanne ) Lauritzen,  Kori (Jeff)  Field, Megan Lauritzen, Steve (Veneta) Hosford, Dave (Julie) Hosford,  Ann Hosford,  Kevin (Michelle) Larson, Diane (Rob) Floersch,  Michael (Tracy) Larson, Brent (Melissa) Larson, John (Meagan) Hanson, Karen (Mike) Harrach, Mary Lynn (Mitch) Martin , Mark (Karen) Nelson; other relatives,  and a host of many friends.

Celebration of Life Services will be held at 10 AM, Thursday, November 2, 2023 at the Ada Lutheran Church, rural Courtland, KS with Pastor Kathy Aeillo, officiating.

Inurnment will follow at the Ada Lutheran Cemetery.

Friends may sign the register book from 1 PM until 7 PM on Wednesday, November 1, 2023 at the Bachelor-Surber Funeral Home, Scandia, Kansas where the family will greet friends from 6 PM until 7 PM.
