Jimmie L. James, 76, passed away on Monday, December 11th, 2023, at the Salina Regional Health Center in Salina, Kansas.  Jimmie was born in Concordia, Kansas on December 16th, 1946, to Lawrence Dean and Freda M. (Noyes) James, Sr.

Jimmie served in the United States Army during the Vietnam War. He was honorably discharged.

Jimmie was a 1964 graduate of Concordia High School, Concordia, Kansas. 

On December 5th, 1987, he married Kathy Zurfluh at the First United Methodist Church in Agenda, KS.  To this Union, 4 children were cared for: Jenna, Ashley, Raymond, and Robert.

Jimmie was an owner operator of Jim James Trucking.

He enjoyed all sports—especially baseball, football and basketball.

He is survived by his wife Kathy James, Salina, KS; daughter, Jenna Kay James Gregory, and her two children Garrett Wayne and Brenna Rene Gregory of Tomball, TX; two sons, Raymond John James (Paidge Jameson), Salina, KS; Robert Lawrence James (Abigail Steffen), Minneapolis, KS; five brothers, Lawrence James, Jr. (Jan), Clyde, KS; John James (Cheri), San Jose, CA;  Tommie James (Jan), Salina, KS;  Mark James (Donna) , Concordia, KS; sister, Mary Meyer, Concordia, KS.

He was preceded in death by his parents; daughter, Ashley Hope James; infant sister, Anna May James; brother, Richard James; brother-in-law, Delmer Meyer.

Visitation will be held on Friday, December 15, 2023, from 1:00 p.m. – 8:00 p.m. with the family receiving friends from 5-7 pm, at the Chaput-Buoy Funeral Home, Concordia, Kansas.

Celebration of life services will be held on Saturday, 10:30 a.m., December 16, 2023, at Fellowship Christian Church with Pastor Dwight Whitead officiating.  A burial will follow in the Pleasant Hill Cemetery, Concordia, Kansas.  Military honors will be provided by the American Legion and VFW, Concordia and the Fort Riley Big Red One.
