LaVeda May Tallent
LaVeda May Tallent was born on May 14th, 1940, to George & Sylvia (Houdek) Leshosky. LaVeda grew up in Belleville, graduating from Belleville High School, class of 1957.
She was united in marriage to Kenneth L. Tallent on April 12, 1959, and to this union two children were born, Rhonda and David. LaVeda worked at Continental Telephone in Courtland, and then KPL in Concordia before LaVeda and Kenny relocated to Topeka, where LaVeda worked as a Customer Service Representative at ONEOK Gas before her retirement.
She was a member of the Auxiliary of the Fraternal Order of Eagles, and she enjoyed nature and animals. In her younger years, she enjoyed gardening and then canning the produce and fruits that she grew. In her older years, she enjoyed spending time with family and attending her grandsons’ school and other activities.
LaVeda passed away on October 20, 2022, at the age of 82 years, 5 months and 6 days.
She is preceded in death by her parents, husband Kenneth in 1996, and sister LaRee Johnson.
She is survived by her daughter Rhonda Tietjen and her husband Curt of Chester, son David Tallent, grandson Josh Tietjen and his wife Heidi, and grandson Justin Tietjen. LaVeda is also survived by her brother-in-law Ron Johnson, niece Melanie Marez and her husband Larry, great niece Sharon Marez, along with other relatives, cousins and many friends.
Funeral Services will be Tuesday, November 1, 2022, at 10:00 a.m., at Tibbetts-Fischer Funeral Home in Belleville. Burial will follow at the Belleville City Cemetery.
Visitation will be Monday, October 31, from 1pm – 7pm, with family greeting friends from 5pm – 7pm, at the funeral home.
Memorials are requested to ASPCA, and may be sent in care of the funeral home.
