Sister Eulalia Kloeker

Sister Eulalia Kloeker died January 25, 2024, at Nazareth Motherhouse in Concordia, KS.  She was 89 years old and a Sister of St. Joseph for 71 years.  She was born in Marysville, KS, on March 1, 1934, to August and Mary Dwerlkotte Kloeker, the third of four children, and was baptized Eulalia Joann.  She entered the Sisters of St. Joseph, Concordia, KS on February 2, 1952.  On August 14, 1952, Eulalia received the habit of the Sisters of St. Joseph and was given the name Sister Mary de Sales, later changing back to her baptismal name.  She pronounced first vows on August 15, 1953 and final vows on August 15, 1956.

In 1965 Sister Eulalia Kloeker received her AB from Marymount in English.  She taught in schools staffed by the Sisters of St. Joseph in Concordia, Junction City, Salina, Oakley, Gorham and Park, KS and in Grand Island, NE.  In 1985 Sister Eulalia passed the State Examination for Cosmetology and was the congregational barber for several years.  In July, 2017, Sister Eulalia retired to the Motherhouse.

Sister Eulalia Kloeker was preceded in death by her parents and one brother.  She is survived by two sisters.  A Bible Vigil Service will be held January 29 at 9:30 a.m. in the Nazareth Motherhouse Chapel with Sister Marilyn Wall as the eulogist.  The Mass of Christian Burial will be January 29 at 10:30 a.m. in the Motherhouse, Chapel, Father Barry Brinkman presiding.  The burial will be in the Nazareth Motherhouse Cemetery.  Chaput-Buoy Funeral Home, 325 W. 6th St., Concordia, KS is in charge of arrangements.  Memorials for Sister Eulalia may be given to the Sisters of St. Joseph Health Care/ Retirement Fund or the Apostolic Works of the Sisters; P.O Box 279, Concordia, KS  66901.  For online condolences, please visit www.chaputbuoy.com.
