Warren Lynn Bowersox, son of Claude L. and Lena (Perkins) Bowersox was born March 16, 1939 at Belleville, Kansas and passed away on December 24, 2023 at Republic County Hospital, Belleville, KS at the age of 84.  He was a beloved dad, grandpa, great grandpa, and a friend to everyone he met.  He decided that the simple name of Lynn suited him, so that is how he became known.

Lynn grew up outside of Belleville on the family homestead, received his education in the Belleville Public Schools and graduated from Belleville High School in 1957.  He served his country in the U.S. Army as an Armor Crewman and an SPF Marksman.  Upon his return home he met and married Janet Crannell on November 26, 1960 and to this union five children were born, David, Jeff, Vicky, Lisa, and James.

Lynn was a truck driver for over 40 years, hauling cattle and grain for local companies, the longest being Ball Truck Line.  He was a member of Central Christian Church, Belleville, KS where he served as a Deacon and Evangelism Committee.  He was a former member of the Belleville American Legion.  He loved his family, his country, laughing, doing acts of service for people, Johnny Cash, Minnie Pearl, and Patsy Cline.  He was witty, wise and steadfast, modeling hard work, sacrifice, and integrity.  He valued education, faith, and optimism.

Long before the songs, “You’re Gonna Miss This” (Trace Adkins) and “Don’t Blink” (Kenny Chesney) were recorded, Lynn said almost those very words to his daughters as their families grew.  He was right!

Lynn was preceded in death by his parents, Claude and Lena Bowersox, wife, Janet Bowersox, three sons, David Bowersox, Jeff Bowersox, James Bowersox, and two baby sisters, Shirley and Jean.

He is survived by two daughters, Vicky (Robert) Scheer of Garden City, KS, Lisa (John) Stinson of Wichita, KS, four grandchildren, Shaina (Eric) Wiens of Phillipsburg, KS, Brad Griggs of Kansas City, MO, Brian (Aaron) Stinson of Manhattan, KS, Julie (Joey) Gray of Wichita, KS, one step granddaughter, Lyndsay (Josh) Plankenhorn of Garden City, KS, four great grandchildren, Cade, Reese, Owen, and RaeLynn, three step great grandchildren, Brayson, Culden, and Ryder, his brother, David Bowersox of Belleville, KS, nieces, nephews, other relatives and many friends.

Funeral Services will be held at 11:00 A.M. Wednesday, January 3, 2024, Central Christian Church, Belleville, KS, conducted by Pastor Jacob Rice.

Interment will be in Belleville Cemetery, Belleville, KS.
