Cloud County Men's Soccer Falls to #5 Cowley College in Second Round of the Region VI Playoffs

The Cloud County Community College men's soccer team had its season come to an end Sunday in a bizarre, 6-1 loss in the second round of the Region VI Playoffs to No. 5 ranked Cowley College.

Cloud County (13-5-1 overall) was able to take an early 1-0 lead on a goal from sophomore midfielder Baptiste Bissessur; his seventh of the season.

Unfortunately, things began to unravel for the T-Birds as sophomore goalkeeper Charles Albuquerque, who had saved all four shots he faced to begin the game, received a straight red card in the first half for a handball outside of the goalie box.

Sophomore backup goalkeeper Kegan Lammering made eight saves in emergency duty, but Cowley College (16-0 overall) took advantage of the momentum swing. The Tigers tied the game up at 1-1 before halftime, then exploded for five second-half goals to capture the 6-1 victory and move on to next weekend's Plains District Tournament in Texas.

Official stats for Sunday's game were not available as of Sunday evening.

The loss to the undefeated Tigers was a disappointing end to an otherwise successful first season under head coach Charles Long for the T-Birds, who rallied from a slow 1-3 start to the season to record double-digit victories (13) for the fourth straight season.
