Cloud County Lost in Straight Sets to Hutchinson, 21-25, 19-25, 12-25, on Wednesday, November 2nd

Playing in the three vs six matchup in the opening round of the NJCAA Region VI Volleyball Tournament, the Cloud County Community College volleyball team would see their 2022 campaign come to an end following a 3-0 road loss to Hutchinson Community College inside the Hutchinson Sports Arena in Hutchinson, Kansas on Wednesday, November 2nd.

Ending the year at 12-18 overall, Cloud County sees a five-match winning streak end in the defeat as the T-Birds last dropped a match on October 19th to Kansas Jayhawk Community College Conference regular-season champion and nationally-ranked Seward County Community College. The Blue Dragons improve to 26-11 overall with the win and will advance to Saturday's Region VI Tournament semifinal round where they will take on second-seeded Butler Community College in the second semifinal match of the afternoon.

After dropping an opening set 25-21 decision that would see the Blue Dragons manage to maintain some early separation, HCC would follow up with a 25-19 second-set victory before finishing off the match with a 25-12 set three win.

Held to just a .112 attack percentage as a team, Cloud County would see six service errors and seven receiving errors play a role in the defeat while allowing Hutchinson to record a .364 attack percentage. Offensively, freshman Katelynn Brogan would finish with eight kills on 17 attack attempts with no attack errors while adding 10 set assists and one of CCCC's three service aces while Madison Ronnebaum would be the next leading offensive threat with five kills. Brette Doile would also finish tied for the team lead in set assists with 10 on the night while libero Madelynn Wells would lead the T-Birds with nine digs. Hutchinson would have two players in double-digit kills with Perline Fery finishing with a match-high 12 kills while Taniya Golden would record 10 kills.
