Cloud County's Kevin Mannell Named KJCCC West Division Pitcher of the Week
Throwing the third complete-game shutout of the year for Cloud County, redshirt sophomore pitcher Kevin Mannell has been named the Kansas Jayhawk Community College Conference West Division Pitcher of the Week.
Mannell shut down two-time defending KJCCC West Division Champion Barton Community College by throwing 99 pitches to work around a five-hit game from the Cougars while shutting Barton out for only the second time this season in a 7-0 T-Bird win. Racking up 7 strikeouts to put his total at 64 strikeouts in 46 innings pitched this season, Mannell ranks third in the KJCCC in strikeouts and tied for sixth in wins with six while holding the best ERA in the conference with a 0.98 earned run average. Nationally, Mannell posts the second-best ERA in the NJCAA and has allowed just 6 runs to score (5 earned) this season while holding opponents to a .135 batting average.
Mannell becomes the second T-Bird pitcher to earn KJCCC West Pitcher of the Week honors this season, joining Jack MacIntosh who earned the award on February 27th after throwing a complete game against Southeast Community College in a win for CCCC.
