Top times at the 2024 Emporia State University Relays this past week for N Vanee Anchike and Siyabonga Mokgothu have led to Kansas Jayhawk Community College Conference Track Athlete of the Week honors for the Cloud County Community College track and field running duo.

Anchike won two events in Emporia, running the top times in the 1,500 meters (4:37.69) and 5,000 meters (17:27.28) in record-setting fashion to break the previous school records in both events which were set just last season by Lucy Ndungu. The 1,500 meter time for Anchike ranks number three in the NJCAA this season while the 5,000 meter time is the top time in the NJCAA through all competition in March.

Mokgothu competed in just one event but made the most of it at Francis G. Welch Stadium in Emporia by finishing as the top collegiate runner in the 3,000 meter steeplechase and running a national qualifying time of 9:15.01. The time is the fifth-best in the NJCAA this season and the third event that Mokgothu has recorded a national qualifying time in for the 2024 NJCAA Outdoor Track and Field National Championship Meet.
