An event win in the discus along with one of the top-10 all-time marks in the National Junior College Athletic Association in the hammer throw has led to both Kansas Jayhawk Community College Conference and NJCAA Men's Track and Field Athlete of the Week honors for Cloud County Community College men's track and field athletes Vincent Ugwoke and Mohamed Ahmed

A freshman from Nsukka, Nigeria, Ugwoke finished the Friends University Spring Invitational with a mark of 53.25 meters (174 ft. - 8 in.) in the discus to win the event for his first Athlete of the Week honors of his collegiate career.  The toss currently ranks second among all NJCAA discus throws this year, and is over six feet better than the number-three mark on the year.

As for Ahmed, NJCAA Athlete of the Week honors comes after unleashing a throw of 62.40 meters (204 ft. - 9 in.) in the hammer throw which smashed a school-record and won the Friends University Spring open by a wide margin with the mark currently leading all two-year competition this year by over 30 feet.  Additionally, Ahmed's throw puts the Egypt native in the number-10 all-time spot on the NJCAA charts in the hammer throw.
