Concordia Baseball Posts Two Shutout Wins to Open 2023 Season

The Concordia High School Baseball team opened the 2023 season with two shutout victories at Republic County on Thursday, March 23rd.

The Panthers defeated the Buffaloes 18-0 in the first game.  Concordia had 16 hits in 23 at-bats, including a home run from Junior Braeden Primeaux.  Primeaux went 3-for-3 with 3 RBI.  Junior Joey Henderson collected 4 hits, 4 runs and 3 RBI.  Also, Keegun Beims, Maddox Frey, Stryker Hake and Dustin Sterrett all had multiple hits in the win.  Beims, Hake and Sterrett each drove in two runs.

Primeaux made the start and did not allow a hit in his three innings.  Primeaux struck out five and walked two.

Hake, Frey and Freshman Chane Parker combined to toss five scoreless innings in Concordia's 16-0 win in the second game of the doubleheader.  Hake had six strikeouts in three scoreless innings.  Frey and Parker combined to throw the final two, giving up one hit, striking out four and walking none.

Offensively, the Panthers scattered 16 hits.  Hake and Frey both had home runs.  Hake finished 3-for-4 at the plate with 4 RBI.  Frey went 2-for-3 with 3 runs and 3 RBI.  Beims and Primeaux each knocked in two runs.  Henderson added a 2-for-3 game with 3 runs.  Sterrett also scored 3 runs.

Concordia is now 2-0 on the season and will hold their home opener on Monday, March 27th when they face the Beloit Trojans in a non-league doubleheader from Lee Doyen Field at the Concordia Sports Complex.  The first game will begin at 4:30 pm.  Live coverage of the first game of the doubleheader can be heard on 1390 KNCK, 98.3 FM and NCKToday.com
