Concordia Baseball Team Sweeps Doubleheader from Chapman

The Concordia High School Baseball team swept a North Central Kansas League doubleheader with Chapman, 13-2 and 11-7 on Tuesday, April 18th.

The Panthers collected 15 hits in the first game and used a 7 run fourth inning to pull away for the run-rule win.  Junior Braeden Primeaux pitched four innings, allowing two earned runs off seven hits while striking out four to capture the win.  Senior Stryker Hake struck out all three batters he faced in one inning of work.

Hake and Junior Caleb Hanson both hit home runs in the game.  Hake finished 3-for-3 with 4 RBI.  Hanson also had a 3-for-3 day with 3 runs scored and 2 RBI.  Junior Keegun Beims pounded out 3 hits and had 2 RBI.  Junior Payton Breese added 2 hits and 1 run scored.

Concordia trailed 5-3 entering the bottom of the fourth of the second game, but a five-run fourth put the Panthers ahead.  Chapman pulled to within a run heading into the bottom of the sixth, but Concordia added three more runs that inning to notch the victory.

Junior Maddox Frey earned the win, throwing five innings and allowing six runs, three earned, six hits and five walks while striking out four.  Hake picked up his second save of the day, pitching two full innings, giving up one earned run off two hits while striking out three.

Hanson went 3-for-4 with two doubles, 4 runs scored and 2 RBI.

The Panthers also got doubles from Primeaux, Junior Joey Henderson and Junior Dustin Sterrett.

Breese drove in 3 RBI off 2 hits.

Improving to 6-4 and 2-2 in NCKL play, Concordia heads to Wamego on Thursday, April 20th for the yearly North Central Kansas League/Mid-East League showdown.  The Panthers will be playing Silver Lake and St. Mary's.
