The Concordia High School Boys Basketball team looks to pick up where it left off as the Panthers open a three-game homestand with a showdown against the Republic County Buffaloes on Tuesday, January 3rd.

The Panthers picked up their first North Central Kansas League win of the season with a 53-47 road win over the Clay Center Tigers on December 20th.  Concordia outscored the Tigers 18-10 in the fourth quarter of that contest, led by 18 points from Junior Guard Payton Breese.  He was joined in double-figures by Junior Guard Joey Henderson and Sophomore Guard Peyton Retter who had 13 points and 11 points, respectively.

The Buffaloes are coming off their first win of the season in a 56-51 road win over the Minneapolis Lions on December 16th.  Seniors Trey Melton (14.8 points) and Sam Thumann (12.8 points) lead the way for Republic County, which has dropped back-to-back games to Concordia in the series, including a 50-35 loss in Belleville last season.

The Concordia High School Girls Basketball team also returns to the court Tuesday night when they host the 0-5 Republic County Buffaloes.

After securing their first win of the season in a 42-28 home victory over Abilene, the Panthers suffered a 52-27 setback to Clay Center in their last game played on December 20th.

Last year, Concordia topped the Buffaloes in Belleville by a final score of 39-34.

Tip-off to the girls game is scheduled for 6 pm, with the boys game to immediately follow.  Live coverage of both games can be heard on 1390 KNCK, 98.3 FM and NCKToday.com.
