Concordia Blues Grabs Lead in Seventh Inning for Victory Over Larned in Senior AA State Championship Tournament

The Concordia Blues stole the lead late and defeated Larned Post 106, 11-7, in their final game in pool play of the 2022 American Legion Senior AA State Championship Tournament in Topeka on Friday, July 29th.

The game was tied at seven with the Concordia Blues batting in the top of the seventh when Stryker Hake tripled on a 2-1 count, scoring one run.

Both pitching staffs had their hands full, frequently dealing with runners on base.  The Concordia Blues collected nine hits, while Larned had seven.

Larned scored three runs in the sixth inning.  Logan Erway and Owen Reece all drove in runs in the frame.

Caleb Hanson was credited with the victory for the Blues.  The righty lasted 3 1/3 innings, allowing four hits and four runs while striking out four.

Carlos Ibarra took the loss for Larned.  The righthander lasted 1 2/3 innings, allowing four hits and seven runs while striking out one.

Keegun Beims started the game for Concordia.  Beims went 3 2/3 innings, allowing three runs on three hits and striking out two.

Beims, Joey Henderson, and Payton Breese each collected two hits to lead the way for Concordia.

The victory marked the only win for Concordia in pool play.  The Blues suffered a 10-2 loss to the Iola Indians in their first game on Wednesday, July 27th, before falling to Hiawatha by a score of 13-4 on Thursday, July 28th.
